Sher e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) at Shalimar is one of the premier institution offering various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various fields of study. The eligibility criteria differ according to the departments and courses – For BSc Agriculture, the candidate needs to pass the 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics with minimum 50% aggregate marks. BSc Forestry entails Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in 12th with 50% marks. The qualification for admission into BTech Food Technology is 12th pass in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and minimum 50% marks. All courses offer qualifying examination options like CBSE, JKBOSE and other state boards.
The university teaches agricultural science, forestry, home science, sericulture, foods and nutrition, and has a technical program in foods known as Food Technology, as well as BSc and BTech programs in Agriculture. At postgraduate level it offers M.Sc in Agriculture Economics, Agroforestry, Floriculture & Landscaping, Food Science & Technology, Forestry, Fruit Science, Home Science, Plant Biotechnology, Plant Pathology, Seed Science & Technology, Sericulture, Soil Science, Statistics, Tea Husbandry & Technology and Vegetables Science. They also provide various MTech and PhD research programs in different fields. This usually begins in June every year through the entrance exams to be held in various centres in J & K. Finally, the candidates selected for admission have to come to SKUAST-K campus and fulfill the admission formalities in the month of July-August. They usually start from the first week of August for the new batch of students.

While applying online the students have to follow the instructions by visiting the official website www.skuastkashmir.ac.in. On this page, click on the link ‘online application’ and then, create an account by filling the necessary information. Scan and upload other relevant documents as well as fee payment receipts. Click on the submit button and then download the form for further use.
The application forms in offline mode can be collected from the university office after depositing the application fee. The forms must be completed and accompanied by attested photocopies of the qualifying examination marks, age proof, domicile certificate, etc., which should be handed over to the Registrar or dispatched by speed post before the deadline. The application fee can be remitted through bank demand draft which must be drawn in favor of ‘Comptroller, SKUAST Kashmir’ , Srinagar.
