SSUHS, situated in Guwahati, consists of several departments offering under graduate and post graduate courses in medical and allied health sciences. The eligibility criteria differ from department to departments and for MBBS course under the faculty of medicine the candidates need to pass the class 12th with minimum 50% marks in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English separately. The qualifying examination accepted are CBSE-ICSE, State Boards, NIOS. This BDS course falls under the Faculty of Dentistry and therefore also adheres to the same eligibility standards. The BAMS, BHMS, BNYS and BPT courses under the Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Naturopathy and Physiotherapy departments respectively, the candidate should have passed in the 12th standard in Physics, Chemistry, Biology with 50% of marks are required. The same examination is acceptable for qualification is acceptable.

Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Guwahati provides PhD in anesthesia, anatomy, biochemistry, community medicine, forensic medicine, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, and all other specialties of medicine and surgery including general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, ophthalmology, oto-rhino-laryngology. The admission criteria for the PhD across departments have some minimum qualifications that candidates have to fulfill which include the completion of the postgraduate degree (MD/MS) with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized university. MCI accepts NEET-PG scores, AIIMS PG test, JIPMER PG test, PGI Chandigarh entrance exam, and state entrance exams.
