The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in Dehradun is one of the leading institutions in the region and offers several undergraduate and postgraduate programs across its 6 schools including School of Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Design, School of Law, School of Business, and School of Health Sciences. These are B.Tech, B.B.A. – LL.B., B.Des, MBBS etc, The requirement for these courses are 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry and Maths for B.Tech, 10+2 in any stream for B.B.A.-LL.B, 10+2 for B. Design for UPES-DAT and 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry and Biology for MBBS The tests accepted are JEE Some of the other prominent courses of study are engineering, management, health sciences, design, law, and computer applications.
The University administers several examination in the April-May 2023 for the admission to the classes of 2024, some of which are UPES Engineering Aptitude Test (UPES-UGEET) in May 2023; University of Petroleum & Energy Studies Design Aptitude Test (UPESDAT) on April 22nd, 2023 and University of Petroleum & Energy Studies Management Entrance Test (UPESMET) on May 6 B.Tech admissions to the programs offered by the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies for the 2024 admissions year will be offered based on the score obtained in JEE Mains or UPES-UGEET. For other programs, the result for certain common law admission test such as the CLAT or LSAT, NEET or the UPES test will be considered along with the other factors. The university has scholarships for special cases and for students who do well academically by providing scholarships to deserving students. The admission form is with the office of the Dean and Director, and can be accessed online and the last date is normally in the last week of May in the respective year before the batch year.
The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) situated in Dehradun has integrated online as well as an offline admission application process for the students interested in the undergraduate as well as the postgraduate programs.
The steps to fill the form online include visiting the official admission portal of UPES available at www.upes.ac.in. On the top of the page, there is an ‘Apply Now’ button and when clicked it will lead to the selection of the program of interest. When applying online, make sure that you enter all of your academic and personal information correctly in the application form. Scan and upload required documents such as Photograph , Signature , Educational Certificates etc as per the size mentioned. The details of application fee are given in the left side of the page, the payment could be made through the credit/debit card or through net banking. It is recommended that the final submission confirmation page be downloaded, printed and saved for record.
For offline application, candidates have to buy the UPES prospectus containing the application form from designated centers for a specific fee charge. Or, obtain the application form downloaded from the official UPES website and fill it up in detail and affix the photocopies of all relevant documents and application fee (DD) at the UPES campuses or other designated centers before the stipulated date. The university provides diverse bachelors, masters, and doctoral courses and programs in different fields of engineering, business, law, design and many more.
- UPES provides the BTech programs in the different branches of engineering as Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, electrical, Petroleum, etc.
- Due to these reasons, the admission process for the BTech program has already begun and the deadline for the application is in June 2023. For those who are interested there are forms available on the university’s website.

- Eligibility: For the appointment as a trainee lawyer, the candidate should have passed the LLB examination from a recognized University with not less than 50% marks in the examination or equivalent grade.

- To apply, candidates must possess a master’s degree in the relevant specialization from a recognized university in minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA. Relaxation for reserved categories as per norms means that there is a possibility of giving some extra time to reserved categories, if needed.

1. Educational Qualification: The candidates should have completed their master’s degree in the relevant subject disciplines with not less than fifty five percent marks or its equivalent grade point average.
2. Entrance Test: It also owns and operates UPES Ph.D. Entrance Test (UPET) through which the candidates have to qualify. These are Research Aptitude Test and Subject Specific Test and they form the test as a whole.
3. Interview: Students who score well in the entrance test are selected for an interview for the final list of students to be admitted for the course. The interview evaluates the research skills, subject knowledge, approach, as well as interest through a panel of experts.
4. Selection Criteria: Considering the results of the entrance test, personal interview and the previous academic performance of the candidate, the final list of selections is made. Preference is given to the candidate who is UGC/CSIR-NET/GATE qualified or those who have previously worked or taught.
5. Proposal Presentation: Candidates are offered provisional admission into the Ph.D. programme on the basis of the above conditions and in the event that they are provided with a brief proposal of the intended area of research within the first six months to present before the University Research Committee.
