B.Tech Petroleum Engineering is an undergraduate program, which is designed to focus on the engineering of petroleum systems, and it takes four years of a full-time program. This program offers study in exploration and drilling of crude oil and natural gas. Some of the areas that students are able to understand are reservoir management, production engineering, refinery and pipeline transportation. The academic areas include geology, thermodynamics, drilling engineering, petroleum geology, reservoir simulation, oil and gas well testing, enhanced oil recovery.
The entrance examination for B.Tech Petroleum Engineering course and the colleges accepting it includes JEE Main, JEE Advanced, SRMEEE, WBJEE, UPSEE, AP EAMCET, GATE, TNEA. There are many other entrance tests for Petroleum engineering admissions at state and national level also. Students scoring well in any of these entrance tests can apply for the B.Tech Petroleum engineering program in relevant colleges and universities.
