Master of Arts [M.A] in Dance is a two years post graduate academic course. The program provides an in-depth analysis of different dance genres and techniques. Dance students are educated in theoretical and practical approaches to the art. Some of the courses offered are dance history/ appreciation, dance techniques, dance pedagogy, choreography, dance therapy, aesthetics, dance criticism, anatomy and kinesiology.
Candidates can produce any of the various national level or university conducted entrance examination for admission into the M.A. Dance degree program. Some of these tests are UGC NET in Dance / Performing Arts, CUCET in Performing Arts, and few direct entrance tests conducted by different universities offering this program such as BHUET.

1. Pass in any discipline bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from any university.
2. Other students from other backgrounds may have to undergo through other courses that they need to complete before they are allowed to pursue their preferred courses.
3. In addition to this there is an entrance test and interview that has to be passed by an applicant.
4. Applicants must have prior training or education in dance and it is recommended that full time students have had at least 2 years training while part time students must have had a least 3 years training.
5. Portfolio of prior dancing practice and all the previous academic documents including transcripts are mandatory.
6. As the training involves some physical activities, the applicants must be in good health to go through the training program. Certified medical report as per the format recommended by the Ministry of Health and duly attested by a registered medical practitioner.
