The MBA in Banking and Finance is a two year full time postgraduate program in the field of management. This course is designed to equip learners with advanced knowledge and skills in areas such as banking operations, financial systems, investments, risk management, security valuation, portfolio management, micro finance and the likes. Curriculum is designed to produce proficient banking and finance executives who will be able to spearhead leadership roles in the ever evolving banking and financial services industry.
There are some standard entrance tests across the country through which students can seek admission to MBA (Banking and Finance) programme and some of them are CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, GMAT, NMAT by GMAC. Many colleges also consider CET, SNAP, TISSNET scores, group discussion, personal interview and work experience for final admission. The minimum requirement for the post is a Bachelor’s degree in any field with not less than 50% marks from a recognized university.

1. The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in any stream with at least 50% marks from a recognized university. Mathematics at 10+2 level is mandatory.
2. Percentage of marks obtained in CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT/ATMA or any other state entrance test. Some of the institutes also provide direct admission to the candidates based on their performance in previous academic year.
3. Institutes prefer candidates with 2–5 years of work experience in banking or financial services, although experience is not always mandatory.
4. The aptitude for good communication, analytical skills, and motivation towards a carrier in finance are evaluated through group discussions and personal interviews.
5. Most institutes require passing their own qualifying written test and personal interview even if one has good test score.
6. Some institutes also check a candidate’s personality – leadership ability, hobbies etc. apart from academics and experience.
