M.Sc Virology is a master’s degree course that takes 2 years to complete and it deals with the viruses, their life cycle, genesis, impacts, identification, control, and management. It intends to provide extensive and specific scientific training on principles, concepts and current advancements in virology. The subject-matter includes units such as virology fundamentals, diagnostic virology, viral pathogenesis, molecular diagnostics and antiviral therapeutics. 

The criteria of admission for the M.Sc Virology course is that the candidate must have done B.Sc in any of the stream of life sciences such as microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, genetics with minimum 50-55% overall marks from any reputed institute/university. The university has provided admission through entrance tests like DUET, JNUEE, BHU-PET, GAT-B, Calcutta university test, Kerala University exam.

MSc Virology Course Eligibility 2024

1. Any graduate in life sciences such as microbiology, biotechnology, zoology, biochemistry with an aggregate of having a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university. 

2. Basic knowledge of microbiology, chemistry, and statistics should be possessed by candidates. Provide the relevant credits in biochemistry, genetics, cellular and molecular biology.

3. Finally, the students in their final year of graduation can also apply provisionally on the basis of their marks but they have to score at least the minimum percentage mentioned above.

4. A minimum of 10+2 level education in English and physics, mathematics is compulsory for applying for the trainee engineer post. 

5. M.Sc Virology Some colleges/universities may also hold entrance exams for the students interested in joining M.Sc Virology program.

6. Extra curricular activities, recommendation letters, research experience, publications etc may be an added advantage in admission.
