M.Phil. or Master of Philosophy (Chemistry) is a postgraduate level course normally of one to two academic years of duration. It includes higher grade research work and study in the subject of chemistry. The course work includes subjects such as advanced organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, applied chemistry, in addition students also have to submit a dissertation or research thesis. It is an academic program designed to offer specialized knowledge in a specific field of chemistry alongside research abilities.
The entrance examinations accepted for the purpose of admission to M.Phil were: postgraduate Chemistry programs are CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, UGC NET, GATE, Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. JAM (Joint Admission Test), tests conducted by different central & state university like JNU, BHU. Some institutes provide direct admission as per the score in bachelor’s degree. Success in these tests and interviews decides who among the many shall join limited available places.
