Ph.D. in Political Science is a doctorial level degree concerning with the study of political systems, political behaviors, political theories, international politics, laws and policies. The program usually takes 3-5 years, including course work, examinations, research work and thesis writing. In the first years, students choose more advanced courses including but not limited to comparative politics, public administration, political theory, research methods.
The entrance exams that are accepted for admission to Ph.D. Political Science in India are, UGC NET in Political Science, UGC JRF exam, bachelor’s and master’s degree in Political Science or any allied field with minimum 55% marks. Some institutes also have their own screening tests such as JNU. Good score in exams such as GRE, TOEFL, IELTS can boost chances of admission in foreign universities.
