M.Sc (Agriculture) is a two-year post graduate degree in the field of agriculture science and technology. The course content in the M.Sc Agriculture program includes topical areas of agricultural sciences such as agronomy, soil science, horticulture, plant pathology, entomology, agricultural extension, genetics and plant breeding, agricultural economics, and others. The program normally takes 2 years to complete, which are split into 4 semesters. Some institutes also provide 5 year integrated program of B.Sc + M.Sc (Agriculture).

To seek admission to M.Sc (Agriculture), one must pass the entrance tests such as ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) National Eligibility Test (NET), State CET, University/Institute exams. It is also possible that some institutes might admit students on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying examination, B.Sc Agriculture. One should have passed their final years of Bachelor’s degree course from any recognized University having a valid degree in agriculture sciences or any related field in order to be eligible to apply for M.Sc program.

MSc Agriculture Course Eligibility 2024

1. Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or any other agriculture related field such as horticulture, forestry, dairy technology, food technology etc., with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.

2. The candidate should be a bachelor of any stream with Science as the background, particularly the candidate must have passed any of the subjects as agriculture or biology with at least 50% marks in aggregate. 

3. Final year bachelor’s degree candidates are also allowed to apply for the program.

4. While some of the colleges have their own entrance exams, others admit students on the basis of scores in national level tests.

5. Some colleges may require prior work experience in the agriculture sector or research. 

6. There is no upper limit but lower limit is usually 18 years or above. Some variations may be observed in the number of seats and the selection process from college to college.
