M.Sc Applied Physics is a postgraduate master’s degree course which takes a period of two years for completion. Physics, as an academic discipline, is the specialized study of ideas in the field of physics as well as their practical implications. Some of the course topics that are discussed in this course include Classical mechanics, Electromagnetism, Electronics, Atomic and molecular physics, Statistical Physics among others. In addition to the theoretical lessons, students get practical skills in terms of experiments which are useful in testing notions studied in class and conducting research.
There are certain norms for entering into M.Sc Applied Physics as the entrance examination are CSIR NET, GATE and IIT JAM. Some institutes also have their own entrance tests. Some of them are Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET), Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). These aptitude tests and academic background in Bachelors of Science, Physics determine the number of candidates that are shortlisted. Another criterion that is taken into account before the final admission is results in personal interviews conducted by the institutes.
