Doctor of Business Administration is an advanced research degree that is pursued mainly out of a desire to develop new knowledge in the field of business and management and to contribute to practice in the field of business and organizational management. The Ph.D in Business Administration course normally takes 3-5 years of coursework plus thesis work. Students study advanced courses in particular fields of business such as Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management, Operations Management information Technology & Systems, Finance, Marketing.
UGC NET, GATE, GRE, GMAT, CAT and other national/ university level tests are accepted for admission to Ph.D in Business Administration. Standardized scores in these tests along with previous academic performance and work experience are used to grant admission. Interview along with the presentation of the research proposal is also the part of the admission process to check the research potential of the candidates.
1. Possess a master’s degree in business, management or any related field and, you must have attained a specific pass percentage, which is fifty-five percent or sixty percent.
2. Possess 2 years or more of work experience in related disciplines such as accounting, marketing, human resource or operations. Research experience is preferred.
3. Prepare and take an entrance test like GMAT/GRE as per the requirement of university of choice. Perform much better than the average in the quant section and slightly better in the verbal section.
4. A research proposal as to the relevance of ‘Specialization’ with aim and scope and methodology, should be prepared as universities look for candidates with research ability.
5. Academic transcripts and letters of recommendation from a professor/employer should be submitted to support the application.
6. Some require specific criteria as per the university such as GPA, work experience etc Some require qualification like NET.
7. Written test followed by the interview round if selected to determine the research aptitude, subject proficiency, communication skills along with the interests of the applicant.
