Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Journalism) is a 3-year undergraduate course of 6 semesters designed to impart training in journalism and related areas of operations such as news reporting, writing, editing, media laws, photojournalism, and web journalism, among others. The curriculum equips the students with both theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills to enable them secure a job in print, TV or other digital media companies. These subjects include current affairs, media and journalism ethics, communication, economics, civics, multimedia.

UGAT, CUCET, OJEE (Odisha), KIITEE (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology), Pondicherry University Entrance Test are some of the national level entrance tests for admission to B.A.(Journalism) Some of the state level entrance tests are UGAT, CUCET, OJEE (Odisha), KIITEE (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology), Pondicherry University Almost all the colleges also have their own entrance tests for admission to BA (Journalism) course as well.

BA Journalism Course Eligibility 2024

1. The candidates should have completed 10+2 in any stream with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks to be admitted into a BA in Journalism degree course. 

2. There are no required subjects so students from arts, science, and commerce streams can apply for the exams. Certain colleges may have a preference for candidates who are fluent in English.  

3. Some of the colleges have their own entrance tests for selecting the candidates most suited for the course and for the few seats that are offered in the course.  

4. For students belonging to reserved categories, the minimum aggregate percentage of marks required is different as per the government norms ranging from 40-45 % in the 10+2 qualifying examination.  

5. A journalism course seeks to hire an intelligent, innovative, good communicator, inquisitive, and ought to be abreast with current affairs. 

6. Some institutes also conduct interviews for personality and aptitude tests, which are crucial for an individual for a media career.
