M.Sc (Applied Microbiology) is a two years’ postgraduate master’s degree program in the field of microorganisms and their applications in food, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, environment. The course includes subjects like microbial physiology, immunology, genetics, food microbiology, industrial microbiology, environmental microbiology and others along with the research projects and dissertations. Full time programs usually take 2 years 4 semesters while part time may take longer time.
The entrance tests accepted commonly for admission to M.Sc Applied Microbiology programme are CSIR NET, GATE, ICMR JRF, UGC NET, University level tests such as JAM/JNUEE/BHU PET. Depending on the institute, admissions are offered on the basis of the scores obtained by the candidate in these examinations, followed by counseling and interview in some cases.

1. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or any other relevant allied subject with an aggregate of 50% from a reputed university.
