ME in Mechanical Engineering is a postgraduate master’s degree program designed to build knowledge and skills in advanced mechanical engineering. The length of ME Mechanical Engineering program is roughly 2 years for full-time students. Another mode that some institutions also embark on is the part-time mode which may take 3-4 years to successfully complete the degree program. It comprises of the senior-level courses and the research thesis or Capstone design project.
The tests that are considered for graduate level admission in ME Mechanical Engineering are GATE – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GRE – Graduate Record Examinations. 1. Minimum 60% aggregate marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or allied engineering disciplines.
2. Fourthly, students in their final year of bachelors can apply provisionally with conditions that they must meet the requirements for admission at the time of admission.
3. As for the age requirement, apparently there is none; anyone can join the band. Applicants can be either new graduates or individuals who already have working experience in the related field.
4. ME programs require that the candidate must have passed mathematics either at 10+2 level or at graduation level. It is essential to have prior knowledge of engineering graphics and design.
5. Besides general education, good communication skills, and strong analytical skills are an advantage. Projects done during graduation especially in engineering have some weightage.
6. Some institutes may conduct entrance examinations, which are followed by personal interviews in order to check the conceptual knowledge of the students and to assess their academic performance before admitting them.
